Official Portal of Texas - TexasOnline.com
BearingPoint, a technical consulting firm, contracted me to provide my interaction devlopment and user experience skills to help completely rebuild the Texas state portal, TexasOnline.com. The project had a 6 week timeframe from concept to go live. Working with a team of user experience developers, my interactive specialties were called into play as the website was to be judged for the honorable Best of the Web Award.
I created a number of cutting edge features including real-time webpage language translation utilizing the Google Translation API (Spanish, French, Germain, Korean, and Chinese all supported), client-side radial search on Google Maps mashups including live, streaming traffic cameras, map overlays for traffic conditions on interstates and freeways, and street-level views for certain state agency office locations. Moreover, I provided features such as gracefully degrading slideshows and a clean "fade-in/fade-out" subnavigation tabbing structure for additional page content. Accessibility was a top priority for this site as well, so all the code written was Section 508 compliant and consequently SEO-optimized. The website received first place for Best Fit Integrators award and fourth place for Best of the Web.
